How Much Horsepower Does A Stock 350 Engine From 1970 Have?

1970 350 R2bbl carb 9:1 compression 250 HP
1970 350 R4bbl carb 10.25:1 compression 300 HP
1970 350 Holley 4bbl carb 11:1 compression 350 HP
1970 350 Holley 4bbl carb 11:1 compression 370 HP
Now keep in mind those are gross rating figures. 71 and under was rated gross meaning at crank but with no acc. drive, air filters, dyno exhaust, etc.
In 72 they went to net ratings wich is at crank butwill as installed acc., exhaust, etc.
The diff is around 20%. So those above #’s is about 20% higher than what the car would really have at the crank when its as installed in a cart.

Most stock 350 small block Chevy’s run in the range of 150 to 250 HP. Depending on which car they came out of and what the cam and carb configueration is. A stock 4 bbl, from an Impala in 1976 had 185 hp.
