What Is The Job Of Insurance Brokers And The Function Of Insurance?

Insurance brokers match up buyers with companies who sell policies, at the very basic level. Some do “value added” services such as risk identification & management, and insurance policy reviews.
The function of insurance is to exchange the possiblity of a defined risk with the certainty of a premium – ie, in exchange for the money you pay, if certain pre-defined things happen, the insurance company absorbs that loss instead of you.
Unofficially, insurance is legalized gambling, and just like any other gambling, the odds are stacked slightly in favor of the house. Brokers and companies both act as professional bookies.
The odds ARE better for the customer with an insurance policy, than at a casino, though; although insurance is not designed to put you in a better situation than you were in before the loss.

An insurance broker sells insurance products in behalf of the insurance company. For simplicity, if you need to buy a bottle of coke, a bottle of beer and mineral water, you dont go straight to each of its manufacturer right? You go in a convenient store and grab them. That’s the same for insurance broker. Its like a one stop shop for insurance, you are dealing with one company even if you are actually purchasing different insurance products from different insurance companies. =)
Function of insurance? Actually, insurance is there so that in case of calamity, death, disability, theft, etc, the loss that you have incurred will not cripple you financially. It’s main purpose is help you (or the family) maintain and sustain your existing lifestyle at the time of loss.

First a correction – its Insurance Advisers and not brokers!!!
A qualified and licensed insurance adviser, advises his clients about the various insurance products available and helps his client choose an insurance policy that fits his profile and need.
Insurance is a risk cover taken to meet any emergency / calamity / illness etc, so that one need not suffer huge financial loss!!

Insurance is for the buyers/clients protection. The most important type of insurance is life insurance. It should be called death insurance. It is designed to protect your family in the event you die unexpectedly. If you are married and have a family, what would happen to them if you passed away. If they were not properly protected by the right insurance policy they would be in a financial disaster.
The sole function of the Insurance agent is to sell th eclient the insurance that is best for the client. Most brokers are honest and do this. Some do not, always be wary.

An insurance broker is basically a “middle man” (or woman!) who will find insurance for you. The thing to keep in mind with any broker is that he or she will only be working with certain insurance companies — usually those who will give them the best commission. Therefore, they don’t work with all the available insurance companies, but only a select few. So, if you want the best deal, you may have to work with more than one broker, or even do some legwork yourself.
The web makes that easy; you can get quotes online directly.
As far as insurance goes, it is “risk management” for you. You are paying for a service that both you and the insurer are hoping you’ll never need!
In some cases, you are required to have insurance by law. Your car insurance is an example of this. In other cases, you are required to have insurance as a condition of a loan, like your mortgage.
In all cases where you have insurance, you are protecting an asset, although in some cases that is more obvious than others. With life insurance, you are protecting your family or inheritors from the loss of you and your income. With health insurance, you are protecting your income from the cost of healthcare. With disability insurance, you are protecting your ability to generate income.
This is even true with health, life and disability insurance. With life insurance, you are protecting your income and your
