I have a small creek behind my house and my kids are thinking it would be a good idea to stock it with some fish (small trout?). Any thoughts on what kind of fish would survive in there? There are some small sun fish and cray fish there now but we wanted to add bigger fish. Thoughts? Thanks!

well if it has crawfish already in it..then im guessin it is a little to warm for trout… but maybe you could try some bass or even some kind of just pan fish but i know smallies are a hardy fish
I agree, you need to consider state laws with creeks and rivers, any invasive fish could find their way to another waterway and become a problem.
Along those lines, it’s best to stock with fish from other, nearby rivers/creeks and to avoid any nonnative species.
Trout need to survive in cool water. Do not stock it with trout unless you know the habitat can support them. Check with the local conservation or DNR and see what they say. They might also say smallmouths would work.
Good luck
if you own the creek you can stock it with what every the hell you want. Try trout or bass
peacock and largemouth bass.
Check with your state game and fish dept. before stocking anything in a creek or river.
try bullheads and channel cats…they love swift fast watre…just make sure there a deep pools they can rest in
