How Many Day Traders Were There In 2008 Compared To The 90′s?

My guess is there are a lot less now. The day-trading hysteria in the 90′s was due to the rise of retail electronic trading (via the internet) — something that was not possible before. Everybody jumped in and lost all their money, so there are fewer suckers this time around.
Anyway, the number of day traders goes up as the market goes up, but they all lose their money when the market goes down. The market has been down for a while, so I doubt there are any left.
