Not only will it hurt him from an issue point of view, but he knows that the market will rise again and he wants to be the one to take credit for it. Even if he is not sworn in yet, he will still profess that due to the anticipation of his administration is the cause of the markets growth. Why not, Clinton took credit for the growth of the economy when he took office.
No, the stock market is so volatile right now that nobody is going to look at all the fluctuations and read anything into it regarding their choice for prez. Also, the stock market is only one indicator of how the economy is doing. Jobs, housing, the price of consumer goods…
those are all more important indicators.
